Human Resources Generalist              

For almost 50 years, our client has served and advocated for youth and young families experiencing homelessness, human trafficking, and exploitation. Our overarching goal is to end homelessness among youth and young families by helping them achieve housing stability, heal from trauma, tap into their innate resilience, and hone their interests and skills to forge new pathways to independence. This work is carried out across at Covenant House sites in 31 cities in the US, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.

PRIMARY FUNCTION OF POSITION
Reporting to the SVP Human Capital Management, the Human Capital Generalist will handle HR generalist duties including recruiting, benefits, leave administration and invoice processing. This position will support the HR operations of all international sites and assist in executing the tactical aspects of HR for the entire organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Manage recruitment process from start to finish including preparing job descriptions, posting roles online, maintaining a position tracker, liaising with hiring managers and candidates, scheduling, conducting reference and background checks, and managing offer extensions.
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Manage the onboarding and exit processes, including adding/removing employees from ADP, confirming benefits enrollment, managing employee change forms, ensuring accurate payroll information and new hires have completed required training.
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Oversee the benefits enrollment process which includes ensuring proper and correct enrollment/terminations for all benefit programs including but not limited to: Medical, Dental, Life Insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts, STD/LTD Plans, Voluntary Plans, etc.
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Coordinate the annual performance reviews process.
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Act as backup to processing invoices while ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payments.
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Ensure the proper and correct enrollment/termination of staff for all benefit programs for various sites.
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Automate and streamline processes in collaboration with the HR team, including automation of employee files and data.
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Process all Life Insurance, Disability and Workers’ Compensation claims in conjunction with FMLA, including distributing, collecting, and reviewing all required paperwork from employee and working with internal departments and vendors as needed.
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Manage workers compensation filings and claims.
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Manage recurring departmental meetings, including scheduling, agenda and presentation preparation and maintaining minutes.
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Ensuring OSHA compliance requirements by providing a workplace free of known health and safety hazards, and facilitating safety training.
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Manage and create organizational charts for the organization.
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Lead corporate engagement activities such as HR Connections Newsletter, recognition program, staff anniversaries, Day of Renewal, Annual Holiday party and other events. 
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Perform other duties as assigned.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with a strong attention to detail.
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Personable, creative, focused and able to adapt.
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Must be a team player and able to work with all levels of the organization.
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Must be dedicated to the mission of the non-profit.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Bachelor's Degree
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       3 - 5 years generalist experience
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Bilingual in Spanish with strong written and verbal communication skills is a must
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       SHRM-CP a plus, or preparing for the exam
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Project management skills, experience with Asana or Smartsheet preferred
âÂÂ?ÂÂ?       Tech savvy and proficient with ADP, Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and various benefit portals
