Overview:

The Marketing Effectiveness Team enables and empowers the Macy’s organization with analytic insight and solutions to support planning, tactical execution, and optimization of the customer experience.  The Specialist, Macy’s Media Network (MMN) Analytics will have a unique role because he/she will be 100% dedicated to supporting the recently formed Macy’s Media Network initiative. Our newly formed retail media network is launching with a mission to connect brands to consumers through data-driven marketing solutions. With more than 40M active customers annually, more than 500 stores, and one of the largest e-commerce platforms in the US, Macy’s is uniquely positioned to become a premier destination for fashion brands seeking to reach relevant audiences with personalized content. The Specialist will be a key contributor to the success of our new media network by analyzing campaign results for vendor MMN campaigns across all tactics.  These tactics include Advertising on macys.com (display banner ads, sponsored product listings, branded destination pages) as well as Off-Site Digital Media (audience extension, social, SEM). Therefore, the work will span both Digital Site Analytics and Digital Media analytics.

The right candidate is a dynamic, self-starter who thrives in a fast paced and rapidly evolving environment. The Analyst is responsible for supporting the MMN team with reporting and analysis for client advertising campaigns. This position will utilize data to drive decision making for campaign strategies and assist in interpretation and application of new tools and data sets to drive optimization. This is a unique opportunity to work in an entrepreneurial environment (brand new offering in the market, small and nimble team) with the resources, organizational support and existing vendor relationships of an industry leader.  Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Create campaign performance reports across all Macy’s Media Network campaigns (both on-site and off-site). Metrics include both campaign pacing (e.g., impressions, clicks) as well as impact (e.g., conversion, online and offline attributed sales, new customer acquisition).
  • For larger campaigns, conduct incrementality analyses (e.g., customer holdout groups).
  • Drive development of new reports and enhancements to existing reports in Tableau. Continually work to automate existing manual reporting processes through Tableau.
  • Identify business trends and shifts, and recommend data-driven responses and recommendations to the MMN / Marketing organization.
  • Consistently apply a MMN / Macy’s Inc. omni-channel lens to analysis and insights. 
  • Stay informed about, communicate, and apply new or current trends and best practices in digital marketing and analytics.
  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • BA/BS Degree in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Economics or other quantitative field preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience using data to develop business insights and recommendations.
  • Experience analyzing performance of digital marketing campaigns.
  • Experience writing complex SQL queries.
  • Experience utilizing tableau for data visualization.
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following analytics tools: SAS, R, Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics.
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following marketing tools: Google Ad Manager, Google Adwords, Facebook, DCM, DV360, Linkshare.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Time management skills and ability to handle multiple projects with competing priorities.

Communication Skills: 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships and effectively collaborate with partners across all levels of the company.
  • Strong communications skills (written/verbal) and presentation skills.
  • Strong Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to build relationships and effectively manage internal customers.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills – skilled at analyzing and deriving meaningful insights out of complex data and translating that into actionable strategies.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Demands:

  • This position involves regular walking, standing, sitting for extended periods of time, hearing, and talking.
  • May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, focus adjustment, and viewing computer monitor for extended periods of time. 
  • Involves manual dexterity for using keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
  • May involve moving or lifting items under 10 pounds.

Work Hours:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
