Description

The Product Marketing Manager will serve as Head of Capture Team for each product segment so the successful candidate should have significant product design knowledge and/or experience.

Key accountabilities may also include the following:

Market Development:

  • Define market sizing, competitive intelligence and customer dynamics to create an effective growth plan; develop and implement 3-5-year market plans (SWOT Analysis, STP, and 4P/Cs) including strategy and implementation, profitability and plan for continuous growth.
  • Work the waterfall curve (“sell-up”) by challenging the sales force on low end business
  • Coordinate plans and activities with Business Development & Sales Team
  • Sales forecasting and/or strategic planning to ensure product profitability
  • Timelines for product and/or service development with manufacturing department

Strategy & Implementation:

  • Develop marketing strategy based on objectives, market, cost and mark-up factors
  • Manage strategic sourcing and product availability
  • Initiate market research studies
  • Conduct commercial surveys and evaluations to identify potential markets

Pricing & Promotion:

  • Develop pricing strategies
  • Coordinate and participate in promotional activities (eg, trade shows)
  • Marketing activities and policies to promote products and/or services
  • Brief marketing communication team about new products
  • Provide market research data to establish product pricing
  • Responsible for technical content for marketing publications, catalogues, brochures, web, etc

Product & Technical Support:

  • Recommend modifications to products, packaging, production processes, etc, to improve sustainability of products and availability for customer sampling, testing and qualification phases
  • Work with R&D and Engineering to initiate, develop and drive products
  • Evaluate financial aspects of product development such as budgets, expenditures, R&D appropriations, ROI and P&L projections
  • Consult with product development personnel on product specifications
  • Communicate vision and value of new products and develop sales tools

Qualifications

  • 7-10+ years of cables and wires industry experience
  • Techno-commercial acumen and an understanding of business practices
  • Market analysis, pricing, technical negation and management
  • Product and/or engineering experience (preferred)
  • Understand how customer value is generated; experience directly interacting with customers
  • Willingness to learn new products, processing technology and end-user applications, and their impact on present and future profitability
  • Awareness of technology market trends and strategic needs of customers
